Welcome to theParentVoice,’s November issue. In honor of National Adoption Awareness Month, we present a variety of adoption-themed articles in this issue.
In addition, I am pleased to bring you some very exciting news.
Most of you have probably already heard or read about this, but in case you missed it, on October 15th, we announced our very first annual holiday non-fiction essay writing challenge.
We will be offering three top places to the best essays. Of course, the number of awards we give depends on the number of participants we have. Since this is our first time hosting such a challenge, we are, understandably a little nervous in anticipation of participation outcomes.
In addition to the top 3 winners receiving $50, $30, or $15 respectively, there are added monetary incentives based on a total number of entries received and pageviews. However, what I am really looking forward to is featuring our Top Prize winning essay as our December cover story.

Publishing Schedule Changes
theParentVoice, is a labor of love. As our readers know, none of us on the Team get paid to do what we do but we do it anyway because we truly believe in our Mission and value the voices we have been privileged to present in our Magazine. Additionally, we are all busy moms and some of us work full-time at our regular jobs or devote a considerable amount of time to our entrepreneurial ventures while doing everything else that we do as members of our families and communities.
As a result, while we are thrilled at the growth and increasing number of pitches we have been getting (please keep them coming!) it also means we won’t be able to publish all our articles at the beginning of the month. Instead, we will henceforth be publishing a few articles every week. Doing so will also enable us to publish more and incorporate even more voices. We will still technically be a “monthly” which means that our Editorials and Cover Stories (except for December) will be published on the first of each month. Our regular columns will be rolled out at different times during the month, as will our other sections.
This month, I am very proud to present the newest member of our extended tPV, family: our very own Contributing Illustrator, Laetitia Busseuil. Laetitia is a French illustrator and columnist who has lived in the US, Spain, and Japan. Influenced and inspired by her international travels, she likes her work to represent a multitude of parenting perspectives (Parenting is just one of the many topics about which she creates). She draws and debates in French. You can check out her website here and follow her on Instagram here and here (Japanese).
As always, we invite you to share your stories with us. You may email us at theteam@ theparentvoice.com, contact an editor directly, or send us a story using this link.
Until next month,
